"I am delighted to note that relations between Lithuania and the Republic of Korea, which are based on the spirit of friendship and respect, are growing increasingly stronger. Mutually beneficial bilateral political and economic cooperation between the two countries brings clear benefits to our people. We can justly be delighted about ever stronger ties in international organizations and successful cooperation between the Republic of Korea and the European Union," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.
Next year the two countries will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. According to the President, a strong political foundation has been built for even closer ties between Lithuania and the Republic of Korea. The people of the two countries are successfully implementing joint projects in the spheres of business, energy, innovations, and modern technologies. Mutual tourism and the strengthening ties in culture, science and education provide an opportunity to get to know each other better.
The President underlined that Lithuania and the Republic of Korea shared a common approach to key issues on the international agenda and the aim to build strong and safe states for their citizens.
President Grybauskaitė wished continued success, peace, unity and prosperity to South Korea's President and all the people of her country.
