"Lithuania and Belgium are close allies and value-based partners in the European Union and NATO. Our strategic partnership serves as a platform to address key political, economic and security challenges. We highly value the increasing military cooperation between Lithuania and Belgium as well as your country's continuous support to ensuring the security of Lithuania and the whole of the region," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.
According to the President, the cultural dialogue between Lithuania and Belgium – which expanded during Lithuania's Presidency of the European Union Council – continues to grow at the initiative of the people of both countries, with the large Lithuanian community in Belgium making an active contribution to the development of bilateral relations.
The President underlined that joint initiatives in science, student exchange, business, trade, and investment would further strengthen Lithuania, Belgium and Europe.
Dalia Grybauskaitė wished the people of Belgium much happiness and success as well as continued harmony, well-being and prosperity to their country.
