"On behalf of the citizens of Lithuania and its Government, I would like to extend sincere congratulations on the occasion of Croatian Statehood Day. On this beautiful occasion I would like to express my firm conviction that the close cooperation and friendly relations between our countries will only become stronger in the future on the bilateral level and in addressing common European issues," writes the congratulatory letter of the Lithuanian Prime Minister who also wishes the Government of Croatia and its citizens every success, welfare and prosperity.
"In the twenty four years since it proclaimed independence, Croatia has travelled a long and meaningful road. It consolidated its statehood, forged reliable bilateral relations and established itself in the international community. It is a great pleasure to know that Lithuania's close and committed ally in NATO is now also an active full member of the family of European nations," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.
The President underlined that this year Croatia was celebrating the second year of its membership in the European Union. She further noted that cooperation between the two countries was growing increasingly stronger and bilateral ties were reinforced by economic, energy and defense decisions of importance to the whole of the continent. Croatia joined the European Union on 1 July 2013 when Lithuania took over the Presidency of the EU Council.
The President wished the people of Croatia continued success, well-being and prosperity.
On Monday, June 29, President Dalia Grybauskaitė will be travelling to Croatia on an official visit.
