The chairpersons of the European Affairs Committees of the Baltic and Polish parliaments exchanged their opinions on the items to be discussed at the Conference and the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit to be held in Riga on 21–22 May 2015.
As regards the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit, Arminas Lydeka, Deputy Chair of the Committee on European Affairs and representative of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania at the meeting, underlined the importance of offering the EU membership perspective to Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova by increasing the motivation of these countries to carry out the necessary reforms and to move on the European vector.
"The upcoming Summit in Riga has to give a new impetus to the countries that are seeking membership of the European Union. Unfortunately, we can see disturbing signs that this Summit will not be the turning-point in our direction," stressed the Deputy Chair of the Seimas Committee on European Affairs.
