Ambassador of Lithuania to the United States Zygimantas Pavilionis and Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Darius Skusevicius discussed the founding of the consulate with local Lithuanians.
According to the ambassador, the consulate must be created in the West Coast of the US in cooperation of Lithuanians and Lithuanian Americans because only this way a representation worthy of pride may be founded.
The preparation to establish a consulate has entered its final stages, during a visit premises will be chosen and the team will be finally formed. The Lithuanian representation is expected to open its doors in several months.
According to the ambassador, the representation's priority will be assistance to local Lithuanians and consular, economic and cultural activities. The representation will help consolidate the efforts of Lithuanian expatriates cooperating with the local government, congressmen and senators on issues relevant to Lithuania and the whole region.
