According to the data of State Enterprise Lithuanian Agricultural and Food Market Regulation Agency, applications were submitted for 100.89 tonnes of apples, 1,933.4 tonnes of carrots, 306.48 tonnes of cabbages – a total of 2,340.77 tonnes of produce. Applications were submitted for a total of LTL 359,000 (EUR 104,000) of aid. LTL 136,500 (EUR 40,000) of the amount has been already allocated.
Growers who use the support instrument have to distribute the harvest for charity or leave it rot in the fields. Products taken from the market and transferred for charity are given to the Food Bank (Maisto Bankas) charity campaign.
