On 9 November 1989 the Berlin Wall fell and East and West Germany could finally reunite. The 25th anniversary of of the fall of the wall will be commemorated by EP President Martin Schulz and the political leaders at the start of the November Brussels plenary.
MEPs will vote on the EU-Moldova Association Agreement on Thursday. The agreement, encompassing political association and economic integration, would be the first once approved since the EU-Ukraine agreement.
On Wednesday MEPs will debate the Northern Ireland peace process as well as the recent tension created by Turkish activities in Cypriot waters. The plenary will vote on two resolutions on Thursday.
EU institutions must focus more on getting better results from its spending, according to the European Court of Auditor's annual report for 2013, published on 5 November. On Wednesday Court president Vitor Manuel da Silva Caldeira will present the report to MEPs.
On Tuesday the public health committee will vote on modifying current legislation on genetically modified organisms (GMOs). If approved, the new rules would allow member states to restrict the cultivation of GMOs on their own territory, including when approved by the EU.
On Tuesday the civil liberties committee will debate with representatives from the European Commission and the Council proposed EU legislation that requires air carriers to provide passenger data (PNR) for all flights entering and leaving the EU. The purpose of the rules is to help fight terrorism and organised crime.
The internal market committee will organise a workshop on the digital single market on Thursday, bringing together MEPs, ICT experts and professionals from the field to discuss how it could be completed by the end of 2015.
