The minister noted that the Lithuania-Germany partnership was extremely important and would continue to be fully developed in security, economy, culture, and other fields.
The officials also discussed the security situation in Europe and in the region. Linkevicius noted the importance of Germany's active participation in strengthening security measures and in implementing the NATO Readiness Action Plan.
"Germany five times participated in NATO's Air Policing Mission in the Baltic Skies, which sets an excellent example of allied solidarity," he said.
Talking about the situation in Ukraine, the officials stressed the importance of the international community's joint actions in providing humanitarian, economic and other assistance to this country.
According to Minister Linkevicius, Russia's destructive actions show that the EU has to adhere to its policy of sanctions unanimously.
Ambassador Schmitz took office on 8 September 2014. This is her first appointment as ambassador.
