‘I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States and that I will to the best of my ability, protect, guard and defend the Constitution of the United States,’ Donald Trump declared as he took the oath of office on the Bible, accompanied by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.
‘Today marks the beginning of America's golden age, from this day forward we will again be respected by the whole world and we will not be exploited any further,’ President Donald Trump said during his inaugural address.
‘America's golden age begins right now. From this day onwards - and it will be respected again around the world. It will be the envy of every nation and we will not be exploited again [...]. I will simply put America first,’ - President Trump remarked.
He announced in his inaugural speech that he would declare a state of emergency on the border with Mexico, send the military there and immediately halt illegal border crossings. He also announced the recognition of drug cartels as terrorist organisations.
‘I'm going to declare a state of energy emergency today’. - President Trump stated in his inaugural address. He also announced the end of the ‘New Green Deal’ and the withdrawal of regulations promoting electric cars.
‘The inflation crisis has been triggered by massive spending and escalating energy prices. That is why today I will also declare a state of emergency in energy. [...] We will lower prices, fill our strategic reserve to capacity and export American energy around the world,’ the president announced.
He also promised to cancel the provisions of the climate laws known as the ‘New Green Deal’ and the rules stating that by 2032, two-thirds of cars sold in America are to be zero-emission vehicles.
Donald Trump indicated in his speech that he would tax foreign countries to enrich American citizens in this way.
‘I will immediately begin overhauling our trade system to protect American workers and families. Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich other countries, we will impose tariffs and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens,’ Donald Trump stressed.
