"I would like to stress that the US are the key strategic ally of Lithuania in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Lithuania particularly appreciates the leadership of the US in securing the defensibility of the Baltic States by taking all measures necessary to ensure security and stop Russia's aggression in Europe," the PM said during the meeting.
Butkevicius also highlighted that Lithuania is currently consistently increasing its defence funding.
In his turn, the vice president assured the Lithuanian PM that the US and NATO are decidedly carrying out their obligations and will be doing so in the future too. He said that when the US speak about Article 5 of the Alliance treaty they really mean it. Also, according to Biden, it is very important that given such circumstances Europe remains totally united. The vice president of the US also promised that the final decision regarding the permission for Lithuania to export meat products to the States will be adopted as soon as possible.
