According to Russian agencies, Russian representatives are in contact with representatives of the Syrian opposition, whose leaders have guaranteed the security of Russian bases and diplomats in Syria.
Earlier, there were reports of a possible crash of the plane used by the dictator to flee the country. Ukrainian intelligence indicated that Russia thus wanted to cover up the operation to rescue Assad. Meanwhile, Russian forces, which had supported the regime for years, were about to start evacuating their bases in Syria. Israel, in turn, responded to the coup by bombing military facilities and airports in Damascus. Prime Minister Binjamin Netanyahu also ordered the occupation of a buffer zone near the Syrian border.
