The Head of State highlighted that the EU and the GCC share a commitment to a peaceful and sustainable future. By fostering mutual understanding and cooperation, countries should promote multilateralism and uphold international law as outlined in the United Nations Charter.
“Conflicts in our common neighborhood inflict immense human suffering and undermine both regional and global security. Therefore, our goal should be to prevent new conflicts and resolve existing ones justly,” the President stated.
The Head of State expressed support for the two-state solution as the foundation for peace and stability in the Middle East, and condemned Iran’s role in escalating conflicts in the region and in supplying arms for Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
President Gitanas Nausėda thanked the GCC countries for their humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and their willingness to contribute to efforts aimed at ending the war launched by Russia. He urged the GCC to take an active role in the reconstruction of Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, thereby promoting the country’s long-term stability and growth, and to support the peace formula proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In discussing opportunities for economic cooperation between the EU and the GCC, the President highlighted Lithuania’s experience in developing digital and cybersecurity solutions, biotechnology, and renewable energy.
