In his address, the Lithuanian leader pointed out that Ukraine is currently being deprived of peace and security, and Russia, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, bears direct responsibility for this. Russia can no longer be allowed to hide behind its status as a member of the UN Security Council and abuse its veto power, Gitanas Nausėda said.
“The entire political and military leadership of Russia, along with their accomplices, must face justice for their crimes. A Special International Tribunal has to be set up to investigate the crimes of aggression against Ukraine,” the Head of State pointed out.
The President stressed that without Ukraine’s victory, true justice is impossible.
“Peace can only come with the complete restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity. Only when Russia acknowledges that it can never defeat the courageous people of Ukraine will we secure lasting peace and security. It is the duty of the international community to support Ukraine for as long as it takes—until victory,” Gitanas Nausėda underlined.
