“Lithuania and Canada are close allies within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, united by a long-standing bilateral relationship founded on friendship and mutual respect. I appreciate our shared understanding of security challenges and our strong commitment to the Euro-Atlantic security community and its reinforcement,” the President wrote in his message of congratulations.
Gitanas Nausėda thanked Canada for its active contribution to strengthening the security of the Baltic region and NATO’s eastern flank. According to the Head of State, Canada’s pivotal role in leading NATO’s enhanced forward presence battle group in Latvia and its significant contribution to the NATO Force Integration Unit in Lithuania are highly valued and crucial in the face of emerging threats.
“In light of these threats and challenges, our unity in upholding and protecting the fundamental democratic values we hold dear is of vital importance. Canada’s consistent and unwavering support for Ukraine is crucial. I am confident that we will find new ways to mobilize all additional assistance Ukraine needs and make active efforts to bring Ukraine ever closer to the Euro-Atlantic security community,” the message of congratulations reads.
“I firmly believe that many more opportunities lie ahead for Lithuania and Canada to expand their political and economic ties, especially in the fields of defense, technology, and life sciences. I am very pleased with the opening of the Canadian Embassy in Lithuania last year and I am certain that it is already making a significant contribution to fostering an even closer dialogue between our nations,” the President emphasized.
