"In defence of our common European home and values, we must be resolute and not be intimidated by Russia. Ukraine's victory is what we must strive for together," said Prime Minister Šimonytė.
The Prime Minister noted that in response to the changed security environment, Lithuania and Romania have significantly increased their defence spending and are taking a responsible approach to their commitments. The Prime Minister added that common security challenges have brought Lithuania and Romania closer together.
The meeting discussed Russia's hybrid threats, including disinformation and attempts to divide democratic societies.
The Prime Minister stressed that Romania's support to Ukraine has been and continues to be crucial, especially in the area of transit of Ukrainian grain.
In the current security situation, the close cooperation between Lithuania and Romania, as well as other countries in the region, both bilaterally and in multilateral formats, is of great value and should be strengthened, the meeting noted.
It also discussed cooperation between the countries in the Three Seas Initiative, transport infrastructure and renewable energy development, and strengthening economic relations.
Support for the Euro-integration of Ukraine and Moldova, as well as the Western Balkans, based on the candidates' progress in implementing reforms, was also discussed.
