At the meeting with the newly accredited Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda discussed the forthcoming visit of the President of Malta to Lithuania and the events to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The President stressed the need to take advantage of the potential of strengthening bilateral relations between Lithuania and Malta in the economic and cultural fields.
The Head of State noted the importance of the European Council’s decisions on the support package for Ukraine, and the aim to use the frozen Russian assets as quickly as possible for the reconstruction of Ukraine. The President also thanked the new Ambassador of Malta for cooperation within the European Union in combating irregular migration.
At the meeting with the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman, President Gitanas Nausėda welcomed the friendship between the two countries and stressed that partnership with Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries is of strategic importance to Lithuania in the context of the changing geopolitical situation. The President welcomed the implementation of the EU strategic partnership agreement with the Gulf and underlined the interest in further promoting the much-needed dialogue and cooperation. During the meeting, the Head of State underlined the potential for further intensifying cooperation between the two countries in the fields of tourism, education, and the development of investment in infrastructure.
With the Mauritanian Ambassador accredited to Lithuania, the President discussed the potential for the development of bilateral relations and highlighted the opportunities for economic and trade cooperation in the fields of agriculture, renewable energy, and cyber security. The Head of State welcomed the effective cooperation in international organizations and thanked Mauritania for its support for the rule-based world order, stressing the global consequences of Russia’s war and Russia’s international accountability for them.
