In his meeting with the Italian ambassador, the Lithuanian leader welcomed the dynamics of bilateral relations over the recent years, especially the growing cooperation in the areas of defense and security, the development of defense industry, economy, and culture. The President stressed that Italy and Lithuania are like-minded countries, EU member states and NATO allies, and that the expansion of bilateral cooperation is of particular importance in the current geopolitical context. The Head of State expressed his hope that Lithuania and Italy would continue to cooperate actively both in strengthening Europe’s security and in supporting Ukraine. President Gitanas Nausėda also expressed his conviction that the program of the Lithuanian culture season in Italy 2025–2026 will contribute to cultural cooperation and the strengthening of people-to-people relations.
During the meeting with US Ambassador Kara McDonald, Gitanas Nausėda underlined that Lithuania is actively engaged in strengthening the transatlantic partnership in various formats, as strong transatlantic ties are the foundation of our security and stability. The President welcomed the excellent bilateral relations between Lithuania and the USA, which are growing stronger in all areas. President Gitanas Nausėda stressed the importance of the US military presence in Lithuania in ensuring the security of Lithuania and the entire NATO’s eastern flank, as well as the pivotal role of the USA in providing military and financial assistance to Ukraine.
