In his meeting with the Romanian Ambassador, the Head of State underlined the positive dynamics of bilateral relations, in particular strengthening cooperation in security and defense, as well as an impressive growth in economic relations and trade between the two countries. The President underlined that Lithuania and Romania are like-minded partners and close allies, sharing the same view of the threats to NATO’s eastern flank and the need to counter them by strengthening deterrence and defense. President Gitanas Nausėda stressed the importance of continued decisions on military assistance to Ukraine and of focusing on helping Ukraine to realize its European and Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations. The Head of State and the Ambassador also discussed preparations for the Three Seas Initiative Summit to be held in Vilnius in April next year.
During his meeting with the Armenian Ambassador, Gitanas Nausėda welcomed the active agenda of bilateral relations, including presidential visits, regular political contacts, and sectoral cooperation, as well as future cooperation in economy and culture. The Head of State stressed that Lithuania actively supports and encourages the efforts of the EU and the US to strengthen Armenia’s sovereignty, as well as a peaceful, sustainable, and comprehensive settlement of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
At the meeting with the Mexican Ambassador, the President highlighted good cooperation between the two countries in international organizations and multilateral formats, in particular Mexico’s solidarity in voting to support the United Nations resolutions on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The Head of State recalled the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean Summit held in Brussels this year in July, underlining that it was an important step in promoting the EU’s relations with Latin America and the Caribbean region. The meeting also discussed the development of bilateral relations between Lithuania and Mexico, as well as the opportunities and prospects for the expansion of economic and cultural ties.
