According to Gitanas Nausėda, Moldova has already made progress in implementing the European reforms and the European Commission’s recommendations, but additional efforts and consolidation of political will are needed to achieve a significant breakthrough.
“Lithuania strongly supports Moldova’s ambition to become a member of the EU. The country demonstrates respect for European values, supports the EU’s common foreign policy and is implementing reforms effectively. EU enlargement would help ensure peace and stability in Europe,” the Head of State pointed out.
President Gitanas Nausėda stressed that the next few months will be very important for Moldova’s Euro-integration, as on 8 November the European Commission will publish a report on the progress of the implementation of the recommendations, and the European Council in December will take decisions on the opening of EU membership negotiations.
