“Although India and Lithuania are geographically far from each other, we share common democratic values and respect for the rules-based international order. India plays an important role in Lithuania’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, particularly in diversifying Lithuania’s supply chains. We see prospects for developing cooperation in high technology, engineering, biotechnology, life sciences and digitalisation,” the Foreign Minister said.
The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the decision to open an Indian Embassy in Lithuania during his visit to Delhi in April 2022.
In 2022, trade between Lithuania and India increased by 57 %, while India ranked 35th among Lithuania’s trading partners. India’s direct investment in Lithuania amounts to EUR 13 million.
Lithuania opened its Embassy in India in 2008.
