The President stressed the importance of expanding political, economic ties and enhancing security and defense cooperation between Lithuania and South Korea. Gitanas Nausėda also welcomed the decision of the Republic of Korea’s Government to open an embassy in Vilnius.
“I have no doubt that the South Korean Embassy in Vilnius will contribute to increasingly intensive cooperation between our national institutions, businesses and the scientific community, accelerating mutual trade. The potential for expanding bilateral cooperation in the fields of security, defense industry, information and financial technologies, laser technologies, and genetic engineering is immense,” the President said.
Gitanas Nausėda underlined that President Yoon Suk-yeol’s presence at the NATO Summit in Vilnius was highly significant in the context of interlinked Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific security and the need to strengthen cooperation among democracies worldwide.
The President highlighted the importance of South Korea's decision to strengthen its partnership with NATO and its long-term financial, military and humanitarian support for Ukraine. The President and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea discussed potential bilateral cooperation projects to assist in rebuilding Ukraine.
