The President and the newly appointed Ambassador to Belgium, Dainius Petras Kamaitis, discussed the objectives of bilateral cooperation and the specific results to be achieved. Gitanas Nausėda underscored the importance of strengthening security and defense ties, especially by expanding cooperation in air and anti-aircraft defense as well as in the framework of NATO’s enhanced forward presence in Lithuania. These areas, the President said, formed the backbone of bilateral relations with NATO allies.
The meeting also focused on the potential for strengthening economic contacts, collaboration in high-tech sectors, science and innovation. The President underlined that it is important to maintain strong links with Lithuanian communities in Belgium and highlighted the significance of historical memory and remembrance of the victims of totalitarian regimes.
Gitanas Nausėda and the newly appointed Ambassador of Lithuania to Kazakhstan, Egidijus Navikas, discussed the development of bilateral political and economic relations between Lithuania and Kazakhstan, as well as their prospects.
The President said that it is important to exploit the potential of collaborative contacts with Kazakhstan in transport and logistics, to develop bilateral trade, and to expand the export of Lithuanian goods and services. According to Gitanas Nausėda, it is necessary to advance cooperation between Lithuania and Kazakhstan in education and science and to maintain links with the Lithuanian community.
After presenting credentials to the new Ambassador of Lithuania to Israel, Audrius Brūzga, the President emphasized the need to strengthen political ties and develop economic and technological cooperation, with special focus placed on high technology-based businesses and access to the Israeli start-up ecosystem for Lithuanian innovators.
According to the President, it is very important to expand strategic cooperation with Israel based on trust and equal partnership. Gitanas Nausėda highlighted the importance of preserving cultural and historical memory in Israel through outstanding Lithuanian artworks and joint cultural programmes. It is equally important to promote Israeli tourism to Lithuania, the President said.
