The Foreign Ministers discussed bilateral and regional cooperation, security issues, and the upcoming Vilnius NATO summit.
“We congratulate Finland on becoming the 31st member of NATO. This historic decision and step by Finland will significantly strengthen security in the Baltic Sea region,” Landsbergis said.
Lithuania’s Foreign Minister also stressed the importance of strengthening closer cooperation between the Nordic and Baltic states. “There is a large potential in the Nordic-Baltic cooperation format, especially in the current geopolitical context. We are like-minded nations, so we must be even more active together,” said G. Landsbergis.
The heads of Lithuanian and Finnish diplomacy also discussed the need to continue supporting Ukraine and take measures to ensure Russia’s accountability for war crimes against Ukraine.
