According to the President, twenty three years ago the people of Ukraine chose to build their state themselves. Today, they have to defend Ukraine and its independence.
The President has noted that Lithuanians understand very well the value of freedom and strongly support the determination of Ukrainian people to pursue the European path and to live in a free and democratic country.
On the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day, President Grybauskaitė also conveyed her greetings in the Ukrainian language in a video message to the people of Ukraine.
