The President to participate in the Bucharest Nine summit

On 6 June, President Gitanas Nausėda departs for Bratislava, where he will discuss preparations for the forthcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius together with the leaders of NATO’s eastern flank countries—the Bucharest Nine, and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. The meeting is expected to focus on the strengthening of NATO’s deterrence and defense, the situation in Ukraine, and NATO’s open-door policy. The issues of reinforcing the region’s forward defense, enhancing air defense, and increasing defense spending will also be on the agenda. The Bucharest Nine includes Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.
