At the meeting, the President emphasized that Lithuania and the Netherlands enjoyed friendly and active bilateral relations in the fields of politics, economy, culture, trade, science and education, and that Lithuania was ready to develop these relations even to a greater extent.
Gitanas Nausėda underlined the successful cooperation between the two countries in the field of security and defense and thanked the Netherlands for its contribution to the security of Lithuania and the region. According to the President, the Dutch troops deployed in Lithuania are a proof of the unity of the allies and their commitment to defend each other. The Lithuanian leader stressed that the NATO Summit in Vilnius was going to demonstrate NATO’s unity and determination to strengthen the Alliance.
“Our unity in the face of the war in our neighborhood is essential. I appreciate the Netherlands’ principled stance on Russia’s war in Ukraine and its firm commitment to collective security. It is important for Lithuania to have such a reliable friend and ally,” President Gitanas Nausėda pointed out.
