Vast majority of Gaza Strip residents is suffering during the conflict that is lasting over a month, they are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance. More than 10 thousand Palestinians were wounded; 270 thousand people lost their homes. Urgent support is necessary to restore water and electricity systems' equipment.
The United Nation Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East established in 1949 by the General Assembly is authorised to provide assistance and protection to the Palestine refugees. Its mission is to help the Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. UNRWA carries out many assistance programmes to the Palestinians encompassing primary and occupational education, primary health care, social services, infrastructure and improvement of campsites, microfinance and emergency assistance in extreme situations.
