Gitanas Nausėda expressed his delight that Lithuania and Japan, which celebrated 100 years of diplomatic relations last year, were like-minded partners, maintaining close bilateral relations based on respect for fundamental democratic values, strong historical bonds and sincere people-to-people contacts.
“Japan is Lithuania’s important partner in Asia. I highly value our strategic partnership which I believe will deepen and expand further,” the message of congratulations reads.
According to Gitanas Nausėda, transatlantic unity and close cooperation with countries of the Indo-Pacific region are critically important today. The President underlined his appreciation for Japan’s strong stance on Russia’s war in Ukraine, its support for sanctions against the aggressor, and assistance to Ukraine and its people. President Gitanas Nausėda also expressed his belief that both Japan and Lithuania would continue to show leadership in preserving the world order and peace based on international rules.
