Gitanas Nausėda stressed that Russia’s aggression in Ukraine posed a threat to neighboring democracies, which is why they had to be prepared to respond to the threat of hybrid attacks.
“We are all well aware of the threat posed by Russia’s expansionist policy in the region, and we know what actions the aggressor undertook earlier. We must be ready for these threats and defend ourselves together. Lithuania is making every effort to help Moldova on the path of independence, democracy, and freedom,” the President said.
Gitanas Nausėda underlined that Lithuania was in favor of Moldova’s aspiration to become a full member of the European Union and was ready to provide the necessary political and expert assistance. Lithuania has offered to provide Moldova with experts in various fields to support its integration into the EU.
“Two decades ago, Lithuania completed the Euro-integration path that Moldova is today embarking on. We are ready to share our experience and knowledge,” President Gitanas Nausėda noted, stressing that EU membership required fundamental changes in the governance of the state and Lithuania was ready to provide Moldova with the necessary resources for this.
