During the meeting with the Greek Ambassador accredited to Lithuania, the President welcomed the growing bilateral relations, as well as strong trade and economic ties. Gitanas Nausėda stressed the need to further expand cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, information and financial technologies, transport, education and culture, border protection and the fight against illegal migration. The President also underlined the efforts of Lithuania and Greece to further support Ukraine, to extend sanctions against the aggressor, and to bring up the issue of Russia’s accountability for war crimes. Preparations for the NATO summit in Vilnius, the importance of defense investments and the development of the defense industry were also addressed during the meeting.
In his meeting with the Ambassador of Kazakhstan accredited to Lithuania, President Gitanas Nausėda pointed out that Kazakhstan was a partner of particular importance in Central Asia, and underlined the prospects for enhancing the political and economic dialogue between Lithuania and Kazakhstan, as well as the importance of strengthening ties between Kazakhstan and the European Union. The meeting also discussed the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, the development of trade relations and cooperation in the fields of education and culture. The President underlined the importance of comprehensive support for Ukraine, which is suffering from Russia’s war, and stressed that the international community’s position towards the aggressor had to be firm and focused. Gitanas Nausėda also expressed his appreciation for the support for the activities of the Lithuanian community in Kazakhstan and for the efforts to commemorate the Lithuanian-origin victims of mass political repression.
The meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea accredited to Lithuania and residing in Warsaw focused on the development of bilateral relations, economic ties, cooperation in international organizations, and common security challenges. The President underlined Lithuania’s ambition to intensify bilateral relations and invited the Republic of Korea to expand its diplomatic representation as well as to strengthen economic cooperation in high added value sectors such as semiconductors, life sciences, and energy. Gitanas Nausėda underlined that South Korea is a strategic EU partner, a close ally in defending democratic values and the international rules-based order, and a valued NATO partner. The President also addressed security and defense cooperation and the forthcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius. Gitanas Nausėda thanked South Korea for its firm stance on Russia’s war in Ukraine, support for Ukraine and the implementation of sanctions against Russia.
