The Permanent Representative of Lithuania in Geneva Ambassador Darius Staniulis took part in the conference and announced Lithuania’s pledge for 100,000 euros to the UNHCR’s activities in Ukraine 2023.
“Creating danger for the international order, Russia‘s war of aggression also caused the largest displacement crisis in decades, as well as global energy and food crises, which further exacerbate already existing poverty and inequality,” – said Ambassador D. Staniulis.
Ambassador also stressed the negative effects of repeated attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure on Ukrainian people and condemned attempts to “weaponize” the coming harsh winter.
In order to support UNHCR’s humanitarian efforts around the world, Lithuania annually contributes to its budget. In total, governments and private donors today pledged a record amount of 1,5 billion US dollars.
