During the meeting with the Moldovan Ambassador accredited to Lithuania, the President pointed out that this year marked the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Gitanas Nausėda appreciated Moldova’s firm stance on Russia’s war in Ukraine and its assistance to the Ukrainian people affected by the war. The President also expressed his strong support for Moldova on its European integration path and reiterated Lithuania’s readiness to share its expertise in implementing the necessary reforms and obligations. The meeting also focused on issues related to energy security, the Eastern Partnership, the development of economic cooperation and the prospects for the development of bilateral relations.
In his meeting with the Ambassador of Cyprus accredited to Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda pointed out good bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in economic and cultural fields, and highlighted the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations celebrated this year. The Lithuanian leader and the Ambassador discussed the need to prepare a 9th package of sanctions against Russia and its accomplice Belarus, the continuation of military, humanitarian and political assistance to Ukraine, and the establishment of a special tribunal to investigate war crimes committed by Russia against Ukraine. The President and the Ambassador also discussed the security situation in the eastern Mediterranean.
In a meeting with the Ambassador of Pakistan accredited to Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda expressed his condolences to the Pakistani people for the lives lost and the enormous damage caused by the catastrophic floods. The President and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations, the potential for economic and trade cooperation, and possibilities for fostering academic contacts and study exchanges. President Gitanas Nausėda also underlined the excellent cooperation between the two countries in international organizations.
