In his meeting with the Ambassador of Spain accredited to Lithuania, the President pointed to the excellent bilateral cooperation and thanked Spain for its participation in NATO’s enhanced forward presence battlegroup in Lithuania. Gitanas Nausėda and the Ambassador discussed the development of economic relations, focusing in particular on innovation, renewable energy, and financial technologies. The President also highlighted the importance of cooperation between Spain and Lithuania in the European Union.
During the meeting with the Ambassador of Ireland accredited to Lithuania, the President rejoiced at strong bilateral relations and highlighted the role of the Lithuanian diaspora in Ireland. President Gitanas Nausėda and the Ambassador also discussed support for Ukraine, the reinforcement of cultural ties, and further enhancement of cooperation within the European Union.
During his meeting with the Ambassador of Belgium accredited to Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda underlined that the Allies’ presence in Lithuania is a significant deterrent factor and stressed the importance of implementing the decisions taken at the NATO Summit in Madrid. The meeting also discussed bilateral relations and cooperation within the European Union, in particular within research programs, as well as on issues such as energy prices, the fight against disinformation, and historical memory.
In his meetings with the ambassadors, President Gitanas Nausėda stressed the need to continue to step up support for Ukraine and to increase pressure on the aggressor, especially by reducing Europe’s energy dependence on Russia, following its announcement of partial mobilization and the staging of illegal referendums in the occupied territories.
