“Lithuania and the United Kingdom enjoy close people-to-people contacts and excellent bilateral relations built on mutual respect and common values. We look forward to further expanding and deepening them. At this difficult time for the whole of Europe, when Ukraine confronts Russia’s military aggression, we must stand united together in support of Ukraine and its people fighting for freedom and fundamental democratic values,” the President wrote in his message of congratulations.
Gitanas Nausėda underscored his appreciation of collaborative ties between Lithuania and the United Kingdom in the fields of security, education, science, culture, and economic cooperation. According to the President, the United Kingdom is a committed ally of Lithuania in NATO. He expressed his gratitude for the United Kingdom’s leadership in the Joint Expeditionary Force and its contribution to strengthening the security of the Baltic region.
