During the conversation, which took place at the initiative of the U.S. Secretary of State, Blinken thanked Lithuania for its consistent and strong support for Ukraine. The chief of the American diplomacy also welcomed the European Union’s unified sanctions policy towards Russia and efforts to ensure the coordinated implementation of sanctions, including recent decisions.
Landsbergis assured that Lithuania would continue to advocate for the toughest sanctions and maximum pressure on Russia. “We must be resilient to Russian propaganda claims that Western policy towards the aggressor is softening and demonstrate our resilience through consistent action. We must namely accelerate military and political support for Ukraine and increase our full pressure on the aggressor,” Lithuania's Foreign Minister said.
The U.S. Secretary of State also thanked Lithuania for its initiative and involvement at the international level in addressing the issue of unblocking Ukrainian ports and grain exports.
The chiefs of diplomacy of the two countries also discussed challenges posed by China, as well as the importance of solidarity and market diversification to help counter economic pressure. The heads of the U.S. and Lithuanian diplomacy also welcomed the intensifying ties between Lithuanian and American business communities, and growing economic ties.
“United tireless efforts by the transatlantic community to help Ukraine with all political, economic and military means, as well as the continuation and expansion of a coordinated sanctions policy towards the aggressor is our path to victory,” Landsbergis said.
