In his address to the leaders of the European Union and the Western Balkans, Gitanas Nausėda emphasized Lithuania’s support for EU enlargement process towards the Balkans and an early start of EU accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia.
“Strategic commitment of the Western Balkan countries to European values and democratic reforms is a key condition for European integration,” the Lithuanian President said.
The President stressed that countries seeking European Union membership should demonstrate a clear commitment to EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, as well as solidarity with EU’s sanctions against Russia.
On Thursday afternoon, EU leaders will discuss EU candidate status for Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia.
