In his message of congratulations, the Lithuanian President noted that he appreciated mutual understanding between the two countries, their common history and values-based cooperation.
“I am delighted that this year we had an opportunity to celebrate together special dates for our bilateral relations: to mark the 230th anniversary of the Constitution of 3 May in Warsaw, to meet on the 230th anniversary of the Mutual Pledge of the Two Nations in Vilnius and to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the bell of Sigismund the Old in Kraków. Our common past brings the Lithuanian and Polish peoples together and inspires them to new ideas and future work,” the President said in his message of congratulations.
As he addressed Andrzej Duda, Gitanas Nausėda also emphasized Poland’s contribution to regional security. According to the President, Lithuania felt that it had a reliable friend and ally in its neighborhood, which stood united against a hybrid threat – irregular migration to the EU over the Belarusian border.
The President wished both countries to remain united and in solidarity and pointed out that only by acting together could they counter all threats and challenges.
“We successfully cooperate within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the European Union on topical security, political and economic issues. Together, we defend the freedom, rights, security, and well-being of our peoples and all Europeans,” the President underscored in his message of congratulations.
