The Foreign Minister thanked the UK for its contribution to strengthening regional security, highlighted the importance of the transatlantic link and cooperation within NATO. “Lithuania is interested in further developing relations with the UK in various fields. We see great potential for further development of economic ties, especially in the areas of life sciences and biotechnology, including vaccine production, engineering, information, and, especially, financial technology,” said Landsbergis.
The Foreign Minister also thanked the UK for supporting Lithuania’s chosen direction in foreign policy and solidarity in the face of China’s diplomatic and economic pressure on Lithuania.
In addition, Landsbergis said that "Lithuania supports ambitious climate change targets and purposefully works to achieve them. We attach great importance to the development of renewable energy sources. We have decided to build one of the largest wind farms in the region. We are also one of the leading solar panel manufacturers in Europe.”
During the visit to London, Lithuania's Foreign Minister also met with Tomas Tugendhat, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the UK Parliament's, and discussed relations with China and other important items on the international agenda.
This year, Lithuania and the UK celebrate the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of their diplomatic relations.
