The meeting was organised in the context of the Forum of Small States (FOSS). Lithuania’s Foreign Minister was invited to visit Singapore.
“Lithuania aims to increase its involvement in the Indo-Pacific region, to expand and diversify markets, to open new routes to our businesses, and to find opportunities in those countries with which we have not yet had deeper ties. We see Singapore as one of our strategic partners in the region of Southeast Asia, and we wish to expand our cooperation with this country in a wide range of areas. We hope that the planned opening of the Embassy in Singapore next year will give positive impetus to an enhanced political dialogue between the two countries and will help to open up new opportunities for the development of economic relations, especially in high-tech sectors," said Landsbergis.
To implement the objective of the 18th Lithuanian Government to strengthen Lithuania’s international situation, political and diplomatic relations with its like-minded partners in the East Asian region, to consolidate the security and well-being of Lithuanian citizens and to open up new opportunities for Lithuanian exporters in the world’s most advanced markets, Lithuania opened its Embassy in Australia in 2020. This year, Lithuania plans to establish its representation in South Korea. Next year, the country will open its Embassy in Singapore.
Lithuania and Singapore established their diplomatic relations on 10 October 1993.
