Antony Blinken expressed USA’s political support for Lithuania in its plans to develop economic ties with Taiwan. The highest officials in charge of Lithuanian and US diplomacy said that China’s unilateral actions and political pressure were unacceptable and agreed on bilateral coordination actions in order for Lithuania to withstand China’s coercive pressure.
Secretary Blinken underscored ironclad U.S. solidarity with Lithuania and said that the US was proud to have Lithuania as a NATO Ally and EU partner.
“We highly value USA’s firm support and exceptional political and diplomatic solidarity with Lithuania – joining efforts in withstanding pressure from authoritarian regimes and defending democratic values,” Gabrielius Landsbergis noted.
The US Secretary of State also thanked Lithuania for its active foreign policy in defending democratic values in the region and on an EU level and discussed a joint response to Aliaksandr Lukashenka regime’s hybrid aggression against Lithuania and other European states since it is the regime involved in organising irregular migrant schemes as a means of political pressure and the use of disinformation, propaganda and political blackmail.
The Lithuanian Foreign Minister and the US Secretary of State decided to continue coordination of diplomatic actions during their future bilateral meeting.
