The President and the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, accredited to Lithuania and residing in Riga, discussed the development of bilateral relations as well as potential and opportunities for the development of trade and economic relations. According to the President, despite the fact that Uzbekistan is Lithuania’s main trading partner in Central Asia, business cooperation between the two countries has the potential to grow and deepen. “We support Uzbekistan’s efforts to strengthen ties with the European Union to promote economic prosperity, democratic reforms, and effective governance,” the President said at the meeting.
The President and the ambassador of Qatar, accredited to Lithuania and residing in Warsaw, discussed the possibilities of expanding trade relations between the two countries in the life sciences, ICT, agriculture, and FinTech sectors. Gitanas Nausėda invited Qatar to enhance energy cooperation and to cooperate in the supply of liquefied natural gas from Qatar to the Baltic States via the Lithuanian gas terminal. The meeting discussed political issues related to the situation in Afghanistan and the problems of illegal migration through Belarus.
At the meeting with the Ambassador of Indonesia, residing in Copenhagen, the President congratulated the diplomat on Indonesia’s Independence Day. President Nausėda underscored the excellent cooperation in international organizations and invited the Ambassador to deepen bilateral relations and develop a legal framework to contribute to the economic cooperation of Lithuania and Indonesia and to attract investments. The meeting exchanged information on the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
