‘The mandate given by the voters in the last elections has shown a strong support of the Armenian people for the reforms that your country had embarked upon during the last few years. There is no alternative to democratic principles and reforms in the strive to build a prosperous, secure, and democratic Armenia. Let me reiterate Lithuania’s determination to support Armenia on this path. Lithuania has always been enthusiastic about stronger links between Armenia and the rest of Europe,’ reads the Prime Minister’s letter.
The Head of Government has underlined that implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement that has come into force this year can bring Armenian society higher standards of democracy, greener environment as well as better business and educational opportunities. The Prime Minister has expressed her conviction that Armenia’s progress as well as long-term goals will be affirmed during the Eastern Partnership summit this autumn.
In her letter, the Prime Minister has said that Lithuania enjoys friendly relations with Armenia and that, as this year we are marking the 30th anniversary since Lithuania, the first country in the world, has recognised independence of Armenia, as well as the 30th anniversary since the establishment of our diplomatic relations, we are determined to continue building the ever stronger ties and friendship between our nations.
‘I am convinced there are numerous opportunities and incentives to further develop relations between our two countries in business, culture, and other fields. I am confident that partnership, mutual trust, and beneficial cooperation between Lithuania and Armenia will continue to progress in the most friendly spirit. I wish you and your Government every success in your endeavours. Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration,’ reads the Prime Minister’s letter.
