“This visit is a part of a lengthy process aimed at curbing illegal migration flows. The road to results is neither short nor easy”, Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis said.
The Iraqi delegation to Lithuania also includes consular officials and holds meetings with representatives of the Lithuanian Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior, officials of the State Border Guard Service, the Migration Department and other institutions. On Wednesday, Iraqi officials visited the Foreigners Registration Centre where they had an opportunity to talk to the migrants and hear their testimonies.
Iraqi delegation is visiting Lithuania at the invitation of Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis. It is the first diplomatic-consular mission of the Iraqi officials to Lithuania. Minister Landsbergis paid a visit to Bagdad on July 15.
