The President of the European Commission is visiting Lithuania to present the Recovery and Resilience Facility and its opportunities for Member States. Last year, EU leaders agreed on a Recovery and Resilience Facility, which will provide 672.5 billion euros in loans and grants (at current prices) to support Member States’ reforms and investments. This measure is designed to mitigate the economic and social consequences of the coronavirus pandemic on European economies and help European economies and societies become more sustainable, resilient and better prepared for the challenges and opportunities of green and digital transition.
In addition to the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility, the bilateral meeting between the President of Lithuania and the President of the European Commission will focus on the challenges of illegal migration, Eastern Partnership policy, protection of the EU borders and relations with Russia.
Subsequently, a joint press conference by President Gitanas Nausėda, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė will be held.
