At the meetings with the leaders of Sweden, the President will discuss further possibilities for strengthening bilateral relations between Lithuania and Sweden, matters related to the European Union and regional security, situation in Belarus, the EU Eastern Partnership initiative, the protection of the Eastern Borders of the EU and management of illegal migrant flows as well as issues related to security of the Astraviets nuclear power plant and not buying its electricity.
The leaders will also discuss cooperation in the areas of economics, culture and science and will mark the centenary of the established diplomatic relations and the thirtieth anniversary of the reestablished diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Sweden.
In the Stockholm City Hall, President Gitanas Nausėda will present Cecilia Brinck, President of the City Council of Stockholm, with the state award for merits to Lithuania. In Stockholm, the President will visit the Royal Armory that preserves one of the largest collections of the Lithuanian artefacts dating back to the 16-18 centuries. The President’s meeting with the Lithuanian community in Sweden is also included into the Programme.
