“Lithuania is grateful to Canada for the contribution to the regional security here, allied presence in the region is very meaningful. I would like to place a particular emphasis on the importance of a united and coordinated allied response to disrespect for international law,” Minister said at the meeting speaking of the unpredictability of the security situation in the region resulting from the Russian and Belarusian actions.
“Canada is a vital element in the transatlantic bond. A strong bond is the foundation of an effective collective NATO defence,” he added.
Canada is an important Lithuania’s partner in Ukraine where the country conducts Operation UNIFIER, a military training mission. Just like Lithuania, Canada is also a member of QUINT, a format for coordination of assistance to Ukraine’s defence sectors, chaired by the UK and the U.S. and Poland as other members.
