On the eve of the celebrations, the Presidents of Lithuania and Poland held a bilateral meeting to discuss political, economic and cultural cooperation.
Gitanas Nausėda emphasized that bilateral relations between the two nations were based on strategic partnership, underscoring their enhanced collaboration in security and defense. The President further underlined that unity and solidarity were critically important to ensure security in the region, especially with Russia engaged in aggressive policies directed against neighboring countries.
The Presidents expressed their support to Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and the International Crimea Platform. They also voiced solidarity with the Belarus civil society fighting for democratic change.
The two leaders agreed to develop an ambitious EU Eastern Partnership policy and to continue supporting reforms in the neighboring states.
Special focus was placed on strategic infrastructure projects in Lithuania and Poland and their significance for bilateral relations. The Presidents agreed to ensure smooth implementation of the Via Baltica and Rail Baltica projects as well as to speed up the synchronization of electricity networks with continental Europe.
The events held to celebrate the 3 May Constitution will be also attended by the Presidents of Latvia, Estonia and Ukraine and their spouses.
