During the visit, the President will meet with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Together they will co-chair the Council of Presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania. Later in the day, Gitanas Nausėda will meet with the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmytro Razumkov. The President will address Ukrainian political leaders and the people of Ukraine at the Verkhovna Rada.
During the Council of the Presidents, the two leaders will sign a joint declaration on the European perspective of Ukraine, and the accompanying ministers will sign bilateral agreements on cooperation in the fields of energy, transportation, social policy, and culture.
In Ukraine, President Gitanas Nausėda will place special focus on economic diplomacy by participating in the small- and medium-sized business forum “Ukraine 30” and the Sixth Ukrainian-Lithuanian Economic Forum.
The programme of the visit includes the President’s meeting with Metropolitan Epiphanius.
The President will honor those who died for Ukraine: he will place flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as well as pay tribute to the victims of Holodomor of 1932-33 and Maidan.
Gitanas Nausėda will meet with Lithuanian servicemen on a military mission in Ukraine, Ukrainian soldiers who fought on the front., and members of the Lithuanian community in Ukraine.
Seven ministers will travel to Ukraine as part of the presidential delegation: Minister of National Defense Arvydas Anušauskas, Minister of Culture Simonas Kairys, Minister of Social Security and Labor Monika Navickienė, Minister of Transport and Communications Marius Skuodis, Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armponaitė, Minister of Energy Dainius Kreivys, and Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis.
A cultural programme has been planned for the First Lady in Ukraine. Diana Nausėdienė will open the Center for Baltic Studies at Taras Shevchenko University. She will visit Saint Sophia Cathedral and the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.
The last time President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his spouse visited Lithuania was in November of 2019.
