In the meeting with the Malaysian Ambassador, the President emphasized the close cooperation between Lithuania and Malaysia in international organizations and expressed hope that economic relations between the two countries would be strengthened by signing two important bilateral agreements on economic cooperation and avoidance of double taxation.
According to the President, economic cooperation between Lithuania and Malaysia had a lot of potential, especially in the fields of agriculture and food industry, aircraft maintenance, renewable energy, laser technology, industrial, electronic and medical equipment manufacturing sectors.
President Nausėda welcomed enhancing the collaboration between ASEAN and EU to the level of strategic partnership and emphasized Lithuania's interest in continuing negotiations on the EU-Malaysia Free Trade Agreement, which would promote bilateral relations between Lithuania and Malaysia.
The President expressed strong support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's aspirations of Euro-Atlantic integration and determination to deepen relations with the EU as he received the credentials from the Ambassador of Bosnia ad Herzegovina. The President confirmed that Lithuania was prepared to share EU integration experience in various fields, especially in strategic communication, fight against disinformation and cyber security. The President emphasized that Lithuania was active in the twinning programme in the Western Balkans, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, and thus contributing to the transfer of good practices and experiences in various sectors of economy.
At the meeting with the Ambassador of Iceland, the President highlighted friendly and close ties between Lithuania and Iceland. Iceland was the first foreign state to recognize restored independence of Lithuania. The President and the Ambassador of Iceland discussed the collaboration between Lithuania and Iceland in the NB8 format and emphasized the need to maintain solidarity among the NB8 countries by strengthening interaction in the fields of regional security, energy, response to hybrid and cyber threats, and resilience to propaganda. The cooperation in NATO was also addressed. The President thanked Iceland for participation in the enhanced forward presence force deployed in Lithuania.
