The President extended congratulations to Maia Sandu on her victory in the election on Sunday and wished success in implementing the very responsible mandate entrusted by the citizens and also conveyed congratulations to the Moldovan people on successful, open and democratic elections.
According to the President, the Moldovan people have made an important choice, and the results of these elections show an eagerness for change in the country. Reform of justice sector and fighting corruption are among priorities. The President wished to continue the reforms and pursue the goal of European integration reassuring that Lithuania was prepared to share its experience and consistently support Moldova on this path.
During the conversation, the President emphasized that Lithuanians and Moldovans supported each other on their way to freedom. This year marks 30th anniversary since the Moldovan Parliament recognized Lithuania’s independence. That was a brave move for which Lithuania will always be grateful.
